DMX to be honoured in New York With Statue Or A Street Name

Iconic rapper DMX will be honoured in his hometown of Yonkers, New York. Deservingly So.

Sources told TMZ that Mayor of Yonkers, Mike Spano, wanted to remember DMX in his hometown with a mural, street name or statue, depending on what the family would prefer.

Spano had earlier tweeted: “Today our city mourns the loss of a musical icon and someone who always gave back to Yonkers- the city he loved.

“Earl Simmons, aka @DMX, was a man of exceptional talent. His spirit will live on in the power of his music and leave a lasting impact on his tremendous following.”

The rapper was best known for his groundbreaking albums ‘Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood’ and ‘And Then There Was X’.

Following his passing, his family released a statement saying: “Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end. He loved his family with all of his heart and we cherish the times we spent with him.

“Earl’s music inspired countless fans across the world and his iconic legacy will live on forever. We appreciate all of the love and support during this incredibly difficult time.”

DMX’s family are reported to finalise plans for both a public and private memorial later this week.
